SARAH.
My name is Sarah Anak Paul. The reason I have the word “Anak” in my name is that my father thinks it will make me more native. I am from Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia. I was born in Miri on the 12th of July 1997, and that makes me a Cancer. Yes, the crab; not the disease. I am a mixed of Bidayuh, Iban, two parts Chinese (Hokkien and Fuchao) and a tiny bit of British blood tracing back to my great grandparents. I have an obsession with music and drawing although I am bad at it. I love reading and singing in the bathroom; or whenever my favourite song comes on the radio. I am almost always smiling and laughing and nodding my head in agreement to whatever that is being said, but that does not make me less loud and opinionated. I get offended easily, and forgive easily.
This is my first time out of Sarawak, and it has been a fun ride so far. Ever since I came here, everything about me changed. I became more emotional and sensitive to others. Back home, I don't hang out with guys and vice versa; so it is a new thing when I get a lot of bros here in uni. I also find it fun to have some guys around; they're not that different than girls. Everything is new to me when I got here, and I am still trying to fit in; but I think I'm doing alright.
