One of my most favourite books would have to be “Horrible Science: Disgusting Digestion” written and illustrated by Nick Arnold and Tony De Saulles. This book is part of an award winning series called Horrible Science which was published and targeted toward older children to help get them interested in science and its contents. The different books in this series vary from a wide range of topics on science from Angry Animals to The Fearsome Fight For Flight. “Disgusting Digestion” is one of my personal favourites from this series, particularly because it involves food. A few reasons why I really enjoyed reading it was because the book emphasizes a lot on drama, excitement and illustrations. It is also amazing for learning on the different topics because the way the book explains the different facts is really interesting. They tend to focus on the very interesting and unusual facts to get the reader’s attention and also provide trivia’s and quizzes that are really fun to participate in.

 

 

The book also includes a background comic and character that can be read and seen throughout the book on top of the different interesting topics, facts and chapters which makes the book much more reader friendly and interesting. The main character in this book is an investigator named Private Eye M.I. Gutzache who takes up brave adventures and tasks such as being shrunk and having to explore a human digestive system and to try out different unusual cuisines from around the world.

 

 

The book also contains so many illustrations and comics that really helps the reader to visualize what the author wants to address and also to have some good laughs. Almost every page within the book has at least one illustration, drawing or comic on it which makes every page interesting. The more I dig deeper into the book, the more I want to read and extract. I have never been so amused and excited about reading and understanding different topics on science before, and this book has certainly proved that science can be really interesting and fun for everyone.
